What’s It Like To Be A Home Health Aid (HHA)?

Home Health Aides (HHAs) provide busy families with a break from daily caregiving responsibilities. This includes providing health care tasks, personal hygiene services, light housekeeping, and occasionally transporting clients.

By hiring HHAs, families of seniors are reassured that their loved ones are attended to and well cared for with courtesy, dignity, and respect while remaining in the comfort of home.

A career as an HHA is incredibly rewarding. Below, one of our former Home Health Aides, Lindsay, talks about her experience as an HHA for Wesley. She outlines the benefits of pursuing her HHA certification and the joy she is able to bring the seniors in her care.

What Are Some Typical Tasks of an HHA?

An HHA provides in-home care by assisting with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and meal preparation, and performs basic medical tasks such as monitoring vital signs and administering medications. They support patients with mobility and personal hygiene while ensuring their overall comfort and well-being. Under the supervision of healthcare professionals, they help manage patients’ health needs and provide emotional support.
